Family Project Manager – Youth New Ross

Youth New Ross is a community based voluntary organisation working in New Ross town and the south Wexford area. YNR was formed in 1994 with a brief to respond to the needs of disadvantaged young people and their families. It is a company limited by guarantee and managed by a voluntary Board of Directors. YNR provides youth and family support programmes within the community – Special Project for Youth, Family Support Project and Garda Youth Diversion Project

YNR invites applications for the post of Manager of the Family Project.The person appointed to the post of Manager will have management skills and a strong background in family support work.

A third level, recognised qualification in the social sciences or equivalent, together with at least three years’ experience in a senior management role with vulnerable children and families is essential. Experience of managing a staff team is essential.

The successful applicant(s) will have the following essential requirements;
A relevant third level recognised qualification in the area of youth, community or family support (e.g. Family Support, Social Science, Youth & Community Work, Social Work, Social Care / Early Years or equivalent
3 years’ experience at management level including line management and supervision of a staff team
A track record in community based work supporting vulnerable children and adults
Display an in-depth understanding of the complex area of child protection and welfare from direct practice over a number of years
Direct involvement in multiagency and partnership working arrangements
Previous experience of management of budgets, facilities and resources
An extensive knowledge of issues, challenges and opportunities open to the community and voluntary sector
A strong practice based understanding of issues affecting children, young people and families
Ability to work within existing structures, policies and procedures and the ability to promote continuity in a time of change
Ability to motivate and support staff and to work as part of a team
Excellent organisational skills
Ability to look critically at the work and analysis of same
Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends when necessary
