Health Care Assistant – Beaufort Day Care Centre

SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:
To work as part of the Day Care Team in providing a safe, secure, engaging and friendly environment within the authority delegated.
To assist our clients to enjoy the service by means of active engagement in meaningful social activities.
To get to know the individual and their interests.
To enable our clients to stay connected to their community by facilitating opportunities to foster social relationships.
To build, develop and maintain positive professional relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
To carry out assigned tasks and some administrative duties.
To support the Day Centre Manager and Board in the development and implementation of quality systems so that a service of the highest quality is provided to service users and their families.
To comply with the Centre’s Health & Safety standards and ensure that the health and safety of each service user is central to day-to-day activities.
To be aware of current HIQA requirements relating to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
To adhere to all the Centre’s policies, procedures and working practices.
To maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness of day care setting at all times abiding by core infection prevention and control measures.
To attend staff meetings and training as required.
The person employed will be required to carry out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Day Centre Manager or Board of Directors.

The Post:
The person appointed will work as part of a team of co-workers and volunteers to provide social day care services to the people who have chosen to avail of our service. Our aim is to create a positive experience and atmosphere for our clients in a safe, welcoming environment and one in which their individual care needs are met. He / She will be expected to have excellent communication skills and the desire to be part of a team with a genuine passion for working in healthcare.

Qualifications:
Health Care Support QQI Fetac Level 5 or equivalent
Some IT experience also desirable for HSELand on line courses as necessary
In common with posts in this area, this post is subject to Garda Vetting Procedures.
Fluent English will be required

The post is part time: Monday to Friday.
Normal holiday and sick pay protocols will apply.
