The Irish Skin Foundation (ISF) is the national charity supporting people with skin disease; we are unique in representing the interests of people with all kinds of skin disease. The ISF is seeking a Health Promotion Nurse / Manager to assist in the delivery of our mission to improve the quality of life for people with skin disease, and to promote skin health and the prevention of skin disease. The position will be based at the ISF’s offices in the Charles Institute at University College, Belfield, Dublin.
Overall Responsibility
The post-holder will be an employee of the ISF and will work with the management team on health promotion projects including the ISF Helpline, disease awareness and patient support. In addition the post-holder will have significant scope to develop the ISF website, digital content and have responsibility for social media outreach.
Supporting the ISF Helpline
Creating and managing the Helpline databases and the nurse’s roster under the direction of the Helpline Manager.
Assisting the Helpline Manager on reporting helpline activity.
Oversight of certain helpline systems with the management team.
Ensuring that the Terms of Use, Privacy Policies and Data Protection requirements are fulfilled.
Disease Awareness
Lead health promotion development, awareness campaigns, resources/booklets, digital materials, keeping materials up-to-date with support of the COO, health care professionals and ISF Councils.
Assisting in writing and producing leaflets, posters, videos and brochures to aid health promotion in different environments.
Developing policies and strategies for promoting health at local, regional or national level.
Running or facilitating training courses and workshops in areas of skin health.
Providing specialist advice and resources to other agencies, such as schools and local communities.
Ensuring that work is underpinned by sound, up-to-date knowledge of health promotion theory and making sure that projects are based on evidence of effectiveness.
ISF Website
Create, develop and manage content; leverage existing content and identify gaps/needs.
Planning and implementation of overall strategy regarding network content.
Copyedit, proofread web content and use the content management system.
Assure web-based information is archived for future needs and reference.
Track and report on all site metrics, provide regular and accurate reporting detailing results of content marketing efforts; recommend improvements.
Membership, Communication and Social Media Management
Work with the ISF management team to develop membership.
Manage and develop the free quarterly newsletter.
Person specification
The post-holder will be a team player. The following attributes would be advantageous:
Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or hold a health promotion qualification level 8 and above.
Experience and skill in digital communications, website and social media management.
Experience in caring for patients with skin disease.
