Manager of Teen Counselling – Crosscare – Dublin

The Role:
General Responsibilities:
To be responsible for the daily operational management of TC and support the manager of CAS to ensuring that it operates in line with best practice
To provide leadership and motivation, conducive to good staff relations and staff development
To develop and implement policies and procedures, in conjunction with the Senior Manager
To identify gaps in service provision and develop the service to meet these gaps, where appropriate
To participate in an on call system at times?
To be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the premises, furniture, vehicles and equipment

Service Delivery:
Ensure service delivery in line with SLA requirements.
Review the locations of TC centres in line with SLA requirements, identifying where appropriate changes to services are required.
Develop innovative aftercare responses within CAS
Work in accordance with Children’s First, Crosscare’s Child Protection Policy and statutory legislation as the nominated Child Protection Officer for Teen Counselling in relation to all matters of Child Protection.
Provide regular line management supervision to all staff members in line with Crosscare’s policy on supervision and liaise with the Senior Psychotherapist in relation to any issues arising in relation to the performance of counsellor’s clinical caseload.
Promote an ethos of best practice, professionalism, accountability and on-going learning within Teen Counselling and CAS.
Review and address clinical governance matters with the Senior Psychotherapist

Clients:
To work closely with the Senior Management to ensure the highest standards of service to young people and their families and the best possible outcomes for them
To ensure that the rights of each person presenting to our services are upheld and respected.

Staff Management:
To promote and role model a servant leadership approach to our work
To promote an ethos of best practice, professionalism, accountability and ongoing learning within the services
To manage staff resources, ensuring that staff levels and skills mix are appropriate
To record staff hours, attendance and absences in accordance with Crosscare policies
To recruit staff when required
To identify and meet the training and development requirements for staff
To ensure that staff are aware of and implement current Crosscare policy and procedures
To ensure that all relevant information on new/relief staff is processed and forwarded to HR and Payroll

Health & Safety:
To ensure compliance with the provisions of theSafety, Health and Welfare Act 2005 and other relevant legislation
To ensure regular fire drills are conducted and ensure that all fire equipment is maintained and serviced as needed
To ensure that staff are adequately trained in health & safety and to ensure adherence to local authority fire safety and other standards specified by regulations
Ensure all centres are of a high standard and are a welcoming environment for young people and their families

Record Keeping:
To read, maintain and ‘sign off’ on records, including serious incident and complaints, in a systematic way and in a safe place
To ensure that comprehensive records relating to staff including supervision, annual leave and hours worked are kept in a safe and private place
To maintain a comprehensive record of all expenditure, including petty cash
To maintain training records for staff including health & safety training
To provide written reports on any aspect of the service, as requested

Financial:
To devise a yearly budget for the services in conjunction with the Senior Manager
To monitor financial expenditure against budget and ensure that the Line Manager is kept fully informed of all financial matters, including variances to budget
To be responsible for the Petty Cash system and provide required information to the Accounts team
Check all bills and invoices against work done and process payment for same, according to procedure.
In conjunction with the Senior Manager, be aware of the financial situation of the service and ensure that there are monies to pay any outstanding bills.
Liaise with Statutory Funders on a regular basis in the provision of financial and other information. Explore alternative ad hoc funding sources.

Salaries:
Prepare timesheets for monthly salaries by the agreed date each month
Ensure that the accounts department is given all relevant information on new staff /relief staff prior to the preparation of the payroll
Other:

To represent Crosscare at meetings, seminars, conferences or with funders
To promote positive working relationships with organisations such as Tusla, Gardaí, schools, neighbours and other similar agencies
Maintain Crosscare confidentiality policy at all times
Any other duties which are deemed reasonable by the Senior Manager or Crosscare
The Holder Requirements

Experience:
Have at least 5 years management experience at an appropriate senior level, including establishing, leading and managing large teams and resources and delivering services.
Have at least 5 years post qualification experience working in service delivery.
Have experience of project management, managing budgets, strategic management including policy development.
Supervision Training or Management Development Training would be an advantage

Education Requirements:
Degree in Social Care, Social Work, Psychology, Psychotherapy or related field.
