Kingsriver has been providing residential and day programmes for people over the age of 18 with a variety of special support needs for over 30 years. We have our own person centred approach to our work which has been developed over many years with love and care, a lot of fun and creativity and a constant focus on the uniqueness of each individual whose care, well-being and progression has been entrusted to Kingsriver.
Applicants need to have appropriate people skills and relevant experience working with people with ID and ASD.
The post is a full-time permanent position.
About the Role
Reporting to the CEO, the Personal Social Development Facilitator is responsible for:
Facilitating participant personal social development in line with individual needs and choices of the person, based on assessment of social, personal and healthcare needs;
Facilitating individual Participant Person Centred Planning, supporting individual goals and aspirations;
Autism Lead Support;
Positive Behaviour support (one-to-one and group training facilitator in e.g. anger management; self-esteem; social relationships;)
Conducting assessment of participants and processing new referrals;
Designated Complaints Officer;
Implementation of New Directions as part of a team
Management of associated record keeping and administration;
Qualifications and Experience
Appropriate third level qualifications in Health/Social Care/Intellectual Disability; with ASD specialism/Autism Studies post-graduate studies;
Evidence of continuous professional development;
Minimum of 3-years’ experience in the disability social care sector in the areas of ID and ASD;
Experience of supporting a small team in ASD supports;
Excellent organisational abilities including planning, support programme development, carrying out
programmes of support; report writing;
Experience in liaising and networking with community services; relevant stakeholders and families;
An understanding of the social model of disability;
A clear knowledge and understanding of requirements of New Directions;
Experience in the role of a Complaints Officer is desirable.
An outgoing and friendly personality with strong empathy and communication skills;
Full clean driving licence.
