The School Completion Programme (SCP) is a TUSLA funded programme that aims to have a significant positive impact on levels of young people’s attendance, participation, and retention in primary and second level schools and on numbers of pupils who successfully complete the Senior Cycle, or equivalent.
About the School Completion Programme in Dublin 8:
This Programme works with children and young people in seven primary and two post-primary schools in the Dublin 8 area. We work with students, their families and the community to encourage students to reach their full potential, and prevent early school leaving in the educational system. We aim to achieve this by providing a range of supports to our students, supporting them to achieve equality of access, participation and outcomes from education.
The Position:
The Project Worker will work 30 hours / per week as part of a team within the Dublin 8/Liberties Project, providing support for students in school, after school and during holiday time.
The Person:
Candidates should have a relevant qualification and experience in one or more of the following fields: education, psychology, social science, social care, youth / community work or related discipline.
Duties:
Working with individual children/young people and small groups of children/young people who have been targeted for mentoring & support through the Dublin 8 SCP Project.
Planning and delivering programmes of work appropriate to identified needs of the various students or groups you will engage with.
Working closely with the staff of various schools and agencies involved in the Project, in relation to planning, implementing and evaluating all programmes.
Maintaining records of all your work.
Reporting regularly to the Project Co-ordinator and the SCP Management Committee.
Undertaking any other work relevant to the development of the programme as may arise.
Requirements:
Relevant third level qualification in education, psychology, social science, social care, youth/community work or related discipline.
3 years’ experience working in a similar field.
Play Therapy Qualification and Experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
Experience of developing tailor-made programmes for young people.
Additional training in evidence-based programmes or in programmes complementary to the goals of the School Completion Programme.
Location: Based in The Haven, Dublin 8. The work outlined will be carried out at the various schools within the Dublin 8 area.
Hours: 30
Type of Contract: Fixed term contract. The post is for the academic year 2017/2018 ending on August 31st 2018.
Salary: The salary will be in-line with the CDYSB Youth Work Scale on a pro rata basis.
In accordance with The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016, e-vetting will be a requirement for the successful candidate.
