About the School Completion Programme in Drogheda Northside:
This Programme works with Children and Young people in 4 Primary schools on the Northside of Drogheda and those living in Mosney Reception Centre. We work with students, their families and the community to encourage students to reach their full potential, and prevent early school leaving in the educational system. We do this by providing a range of targeted and universal supports in school, afterschool and during holiday time.
The Positions:
We are recruiting for 2 part- time Project Workers to join our small team. One Project Worker will be school based providing direct supports to our students on a one to one and small group setting. The other will be primarily based in Mosney Reception Centre providing afterschool supports to the students living there.
The People:
Candidates should have a relevant qualification and experience in one or more of the following fields: youth/Community work, Social care, Social work, education, psychology, or related discipline.
Main Duties School based part- time Project Worker:
Work alongside the Co-ordinator to implement the School Completion Programme in the 4 targeted schools
Provide direct support to the targeted young people both in school and after school
Plan & deliver personal and social development programmes in a one to one and group setting
Provision of afterschool supports in the form of Homework Clubs, afterschool Clubs etc
Provision of holiday time supports in the form of Summer Programmes
Produce quarterly reports on project activity
Attend weekly team meetings with the Co-ordinator
Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by management, in relation to the role
Main Duties Mosney Reception Centre based part- time Project Worker:
Work alongside the Co-ordinator to further develop the School Completion Programme in Mosney afterschools Club
Work alongside management, volunteers and teachers in Mosney afterschools Club to develop the services delivered on site in Mosney
Provide direct support to the targeted young people & children living in Mosney Reception Centre
Producing quarterly reports on project activity
Attending weekly team meetings with the Co-ordinator
Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by management, in relation to the role
Applicants for both positions should possess:
A recognised qualification in youth/community work or social work/care/teaching
A proven record of working with children and young people
Experience in delivering programmes personal and social development programmes & activities
The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
A basic working knowledge of computers
An understanding of the educational system and issues pertaining to early school leaving
Mosney Reception Centre based Project Worker should also:
Possess a full clean driving licence and have access to a car during work hours
Experience working with children/young people form diverse cultural background would be an advantage
Knowledge of the immigration system would also be an advantage
Hours:
Both Positions are Part-Time. School Based Project Worker is for 20 hours per week. Mosney Reception Centre Project Worker is 16 hours per week. The majority of the Working week will be afternoons and afterschool time.
