The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the largest, voluntary, charitable organisation in Ireland. Its membership of over 11,000 volunteers throughout the country are supported by professional staff, working for social justice and the creation of a more just, caring nation. This unique network of social concern also gives practical support to those experiencing poverty and social exclusion, by providing a wide range of services to people in need.
The Society’s East Regional Office is its largest, covering the counties Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow. It has over 3,000 volunteers working in 310 Conferences. Over 200 staff support volunteers in a variety of settings including housing and hostels, community care, shops, administration and other specialist areas.
The Role
The prime purpose of the Society’s Regional offices is to support the core work of Regional and Area Presidents and through them our Conferences and Members on the ground. Responsible for the day to day efficient operation and management of the Regional office and line management of Regional Office staff, the
Regional Co-ordinator will:
Support the work of Regional and Area Presidents and through them the SVP Board, Conferences and Members.
Manage SVP East Regional office, its services, its staff and their development.
Ensure effective communications with members and public to maximise effectiveness as well as financial and other support for SVP Mission.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a business/administration/financial related subject.
At least 5 years’ management experience (some of which may have been gained in the community/ voluntary/ not for profit sectors).
A knowledge and appreciation of the Society, its ethos, mission and values.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, in individual and group situations in a professional manner.
Proficient in IT – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM system.
Excellent organisation skills.
A positive outlook with resilience and persistence in the face of barriers and setbacks.
An ability to establish and foster excellent working relationships with many different people across different functions and locations.
