Self-Directed Living Support Workers – Sunbeam House Services

We are currently seeking Self-Directed Living Support Workers to provide support to a woman in managing all aspects of her life using a self-directed approach. The successful candidates will assist in establishing a strategy to transition from current services to self-directed supports. They will discover the interests, needs, hopes and dreams of the person and will use Social Role Valorisation techniques to support the person to find and fulfil meaningful roles in all aspects of her life. Working hours will be 12-hour day shifts over 7 days. Applicants must be flexible to meet the requirements of the services required. Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding and ability to implement our ethos and values.

Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications or foreign equivalent (validated by NQAI) or be in the process of obtaining:

HETAC Level 7 in Childcare
HETAC Level 7 in Social Studies
HETAC Level 7 in Social Care
HETAC Level 7 Applied Social Studies – Social Care
HETAC Level 7 in Training & Education – Supported Employment – Open Training College continuous learning.
HETAC Level 7 in Applied Social Studies (Disability) – Open Training College continuous learning.
Applicants must have: Two year’s post qualification experience of working with adults with intellectual disability

Have an ability to work on own initiative, both lone working and as part of a team
An interest in activities and supports in the community.
Have an ability to support the person with all acts of daily living.
Experience of dealing with responsive behaviours and supporting these behaviours.
Have a working knowledge of all relevant legislation and a proven ability to implement standards and regulations.
Be enthusiastic, energetic and creative with excellent organisation and communication skills.
Excellent personal & interpersonal skills.
Excellent IT skills and report writing skills.
Have an ability to deal with confidential information in a discreet and responsible manner.
Full clean driving licence is essential.
Have an ability to support the person’s medical issues following training delivered by SHS.

Desired:
Knowledge of Social Role Valorisation.
Knowledge of New Directions.
