1. Overview
Donegal Women’s Domestic Violence Service (DWDVS) is a dedicated domestic violence response service based in Letterkenny, and covering the entire county of Donegal. The service owns 3x 2bed apartments and 1x 3bed house in a secure unit with office space attached. The service offers outreach support throughout the county, runs a 24 hr helpline and provides awareness raising sessions throughout the community, school and agency sector within the county. It also offers a support programme ‘Journey to Freedom’ and is starting out on a new partnership venture with Tusla to run the recognised NSPCC Domestic Abuse Recovering Together (DART) programme for mothers and children that have been affected by Domestic Abuse.
2. Job Description:
Position: Service Manager
Office Base: Letterkenny, Co. Donegal
Report to: Board of Management
3. Overall Purpose and Context:
DWDVS is seeking a capable and experienced manager who has prior experience of working or volunteering within the domestic abuse sector. The position requires a highly motivated and extremely well organised person with excellent time management skills and able to work well under pressure.
The post requires working on a wide diversity of issues including oversight of the refuge building, management of staff involved in service delivery and liaison with relevant referral agencies and organizations. The position requires a high level of flexibility in order to build a strong core staff team with the relevant expertise to do the work required and needs a lead by example approach to achieving this.
This is the senior manager position for the organisation and is answerable directly to the Board of Management, and reports to Tusla for the financial returns and budget expenditure.
4. Role:
The core tasks of the manager include the following
Management of staff for a residential and outreach domestic violence service
Oversee Strategic Development and Planning
Accountable & Governance Role along with Board of Directors
Development and Promotion of the Service
Representation of the Service
Developing a Team Work Approach
Regular reporting duties.
Salary: €50 – €58K depending on experience
