Summary:
CIDP is seeking to appoint a Support Manager who will be responsible for the overall management of Support and Care services provided for Adult Deaf and Deafblind people living in St. Joseph’s House, ensuring that when possible, each person lives a life of their choosing. The Support person will also act up as the Person In Charge in the absence of the Director of Care. He / she will liaise with family members as required and seek to engage external professionals as necessary. The Support Manager is responsible for the delivery of all the social care provided in line with HIQA standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Below are the key areas of responsibility;
General
Ensure the provision of high quality, effective and safe residential services and social support to the people of St. Joseph’s House
Regularly liaise (as appropriate) with the families in a manner that is collaborative and transparent
Consistently monitor each person’s unique support needs and ensure these individual needs are attended to with support, dignity and respect
Manage and supervise all supervisors and care staff to ensure the highest standards of support for every person at St. Josephs
Regularly liaise and collaborate with the Director of Care to ensure all policies and procedures are updated and implemented
Take responsibility for the management of complaints and supporting each complainant throughout the process
Identify any gaps in service provision and where external supports are required communicate these to the Director of Care
Attend regular meetings with the Director of Care to keep the Director informed of the work and contribute to the strategy for the future of St. Joseph’s House
Attend regular meetings with the people who live in St Joseph’s and staff to keep them informed of any developments that may affect them
Liaise with Human Resources and the CEO of CIDP as required
Act up as the Person In Charge in the absence of the Director of Care at St Joseph’s House as required
Specific:
Ensure that the support provided at St. Joseph’s complies with the HIQA National Standards for People with Disabilities.
Ensuring all the relevant schedules are adhered to as set out in the Statutory Instruments under the Health Act 2007
Participate in inspections and follow up with action plans; the provision of regular quarterly notifications and notifications of note-worthy events
Adhere to the National Guidelines for Preventing Vulnerable Adults from Abuse by respecting their individual rights; promoting a zero tolerance of abuse at St. Josephs; conducting preliminary screening reports as necessary; creating safety plans, communicating plans to staff and monitoring the implementation of each plan
Ensure adequate staffing cover is in place to meet the dependency levels, liaise with the Duty Manager/Supervisors in relation to rosters
Participate in the planning of a smooth transition for each person moving from St. Joseph’s House
Ensure the individual needs of each person is identified and responded to throughout this transition period
Ensure compliance with Risk Management Guidelines, to include participation in risk management meetings and completion of risk assessments to constantly monitor and mitigate risk to staff and the people of St. Joseph’s House
Responsible for the monitoring of CCTV by adhering to the CCTV Policy
Key Requirements:
Essential Requirements:
Minimum Degree in Social Care, Community Care
Experience of working in a Residential /Designated Centre
Experience of working under the HIQA Standards by participating as a person in charge(PIC) or as a person participating in management(PIM)
Keeping up to date with Social Policies and Guidelines with the ability to implement them as required
Experience of Safeguarding people from Abuse and promoting a zero tolerance to Abuse culture amongst the team
Experience of providing or receiving reflective supervision to facilitate professional development
Experience of managing and supporting people by setting clear objectives
Strong leadership experience with a proven ability to coach, motivate and supervise people
Ability to be creative with developments and new projects to enhance the lives of the people who live in St Joseph’s House
Desirable requirements:
Knowledge of Social Role Valorisation
Experience in supporting people to transition from a residential setting
