The initiative’s catchment area is Cavan urban electoral district (ED) targeting vulnerable, disadvantaged young people (16-24 years old) who may not be in regular education, training or employment. This is a new initiative and aims to enable young people to re-engage with education and/or training and employment and develop life skills that foster good relations, build confidence and resilience, enhancing their employability prospects.
The Youth Officer will work a minimum of 35 hours per week.
The successful applicant will have the following essential requirements;
Education to National Diploma or Degree standard preferably in youth work / addiction / health promotion (note: candidates with a Diploma and with exceptional, relevant work experience may also be considered in lieu of degree qualifications)
A minimum of 1 year relevant paid / voluntary experience working with young people affected by drugs, alcohol or related problems
Access to car and full driving licence
Ability to mentor/advise youth and families on options available.
An understanding of Youth Work and Community Work methodologies
