Console is a registered charity providing Professional Counselling Support and Helpline Services to those bereaved by suicide.
JOB PURPOSE
Console’s founding principle is to support people bereaved through suicide and suicide prevention.
POSITION: Contract Bereavement Counsellor.
Hours of Work: Part Time 2 days ( 15 hours per week)
Profile: Efficient, responsible creative dedicated and motivated Accredited Counsellor with a minimum of 3 years experience of working with people in a therapeutic and multi-disciplinary setting.
Location: Donegal
Salary: €32,000 (pro rata)
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and/or Experience
The successful candidates will have;
A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant clinical area such as counselling, psychotherapy or psychology and professional accreditation in their relevant field.
Experience of co-coordinating multi-agency initiatives and of developing working relationships with a variety of professionals in other agencies.
Skills, competencies and/or knowledge
The successful candidate will have:
The compassionate and empathic skills required to supportively engage with bereaved families and communities across varied social settings and groups.
Knowledge or experience in the fields of suicide bereavement, suicide prevention and responding to critical incidents.
Child Protection Training and Suicide Intervention & Prevention Training (e.g., STORM, ASIST, QPR) are desirable.
The ability to prioritise work and coordinate multiple responsibilities.
Well-developed organisational, communication and networking skills.
The ability to communicate among disparate disciplines.
An awareness and understanding of cultural differences in dealing with death and grief.
The willingness to work unsocial hours and a time off in lieu system.
