Job Summary:
The Childcare Room Leader will work closely with, and support the Preschool Supervisor and Staff, Project Coordinator and the Directors of Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre in ensuring the competent delivery of a high quality daily childcare/ pre-school programme
Childcare Leaders are required to treat all information they receive with the strictest of confidence and professionalism.
Responsibilities will include:
To be responsible for the overall safety and well-being of the children in their care. They have responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services Services) Regulations 2016 and all other relevant legislation.
Childcare Room Leader is responsible for ensuring that the Child Protection Policy of the service is based on Children First National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children 2017.
Childcare Room Leader is responsible for ensuring that activities in each session allow the children to experience creative, imaginative, physical, social and cognitive play within the Framework for early Learning.
Childcare Room Leaders require excellent leadership skills and should be a positive role model and support to the staff in their room.
Childcare Room Leader is responsible for ensuring good standards of hygiene, regularly checking and ensuring equipment is safe, preparing classrooms and tidying of same after each session in compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
Childcare Room Leaders require an excellent knowledge of child development and will deliver and uphold the Curriculum in place in line with Aistear and Síolta.
To provide ongoing day-to-day support to the other staff in the Childcare/ Pre-School/Afterschool.
To adhere to the Mission Statement of Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre.
To ensure the constant safety of the childcare environment and of the children, parents and staff in accordance with the Policies and Procedures Manual of Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre and all relevant legislation.
To promote the ethos of equality.
To maintain records in accordance with Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre’s Policies and Procedures Manual, ensuring appropriate levels of confidentiality at all times
To understand and promote and model best practice in childcare through participation in childcare networks and ongoing training.
To have a clear understanding of the National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children.
To alert the Staff, Supervisor and Project Coordinator to any matters that may compromise the delivery of a high quality pre-school service.
Creating a warm, safe, stimulating environment, where children can develop holistically, socially, morally, artistically and educationally and encourage positive interacting with both parents and children
Ensure equipment is appropriate and in good condition.
Ensure the usage of equipment is respected by all the children and members of staff with awareness to the cost of materials.
To keep all records up to date in line with GDPR.
Childcare Room Leaders are required to assist and take part in the organisation of special events, outings and fundraising activities.
Childcare Room Leader needs to be flexible to undertake other relevant tasks and duties as they arise to ensure the safe and efficient running of the centre.
It is a requirement to attend staff meetings which will be arranged by the supervisor.
All staff are expected to adhere to the normal standards of personal conduct and behaviour associated with employment of this nature. Respect for each individual is of paramount importance. A positive outlook is required so as to foster a climate of mutual sharing and trust.

Hours of Work
The post will be full-time – 35 hours per week (38 week working year)
A ten-month probation period will apply
Accountabilit
The Preschool Room Leader will be responsible to the Supervisor, Project Coordinator and to the Voluntary Board of Directors.
Confidentiality
The Preschool Room Leader will observe confidentiality at all times in relation to Centre business.
Salary
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
Holidays
You are entitled to 15 days annual leave (based on 38 week working year).
Garda Vetting
The position is subject to the completion of a satisfactory Garda Vetting process.
