Psychologist – St. Catherine’s Association – Co Wicklow

St. Catherine’s Association is a non-profit making organisation which provides education, training, healthcare and residential/respite care to clients who have intellectual and other disabilities. St. Catherine’s Association is funded substantially by the Health Service Executive (HSE) to provide a range of services to families in County Wicklow. These services include Early Intervention for children from birth to age six, Special School, Respite/Residential living, Outreach, Nursing, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Positive Behaviour Support, Occupational Therapy, Transport and other supports.

We now meet the needs of over 250 children and families in County Wicklow.

We currently have the following vacancy:

Permanent Psychologist – Staff Grade

Commencing January 2016

We are currently looking for a Basic Grade Psychologist to join our team dedicated in helping children with special needs and making a difference in their lives.

The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and report to the Principal Psychologist.

Qualifications:

1. Applicants must have a recoginised University degree or diploma (NQAI Level 8 equivalent) obtained with first or second class honors in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honors obtained in that subject, and

2. A postgraduate professional psychological qualification recognized by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical Psychology, or

Counselling Psychology or Educational Psychology as appropriate

to the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated.

OR

3. A postgraduate professional psychology qualification validated by the

Department of Health and Children in Clinical Psychology, or Counselling Psychology or Educational Psychology as appropriate to the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated.

Flexibility is essential,
An ability to implement the policies of the organisation
An ability to make sound judgments and decisions based on current legislation, best practice and individual circumstances
An ability to assess situations and act appropriately and use analytical and problem solving processes that best meet the needs of the children and the service
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of St Catherine’s to improve the lives of the people we support
The ability to work effectively under pressure and handle changing priorities
Hold a full clean driving license, have access to transport & be willing to drive location vehicles
