Aware, established in 1985 to support, educate and inform people about depression and bipolar disorder, wishes to recruit a number of training partners to join the panel of trainers delivering the organisation’s Relatives & Friends Education Programme.
Applications are specifically sought from experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN’s) or other mental health professionals. (Please note the number of programmes delivered throughout the year may vary and could be limited).
About the Relatives & Friends Education Programme
The programme is specifically aimed at relatives of, or individuals who care about, someone who is experiencing depression or bipolar disorder. It consists of four modules, delivered by two Training Partners, one evening per week over four consecutive weeks. It is intended to provide a deeper understanding of the impact of depression and bipolar disorder, and to help relatives identify helpful options and actions that are available to them and to their loved one.
Following this recruitment drive, programmes will be delivered by one new trainer (a Mental Health Professional) and a trainer from Aware’s current Training Panel, who has experience of delivering Aware programmes.
Due to the nature of the training content and target audience, it is essential that applicants for this role possess empathy, and can identify with the audience and the various challenges they may have faced/be facing, while supporting or caring for a relative and/or friend experiencing depression and/or bipolar disorder.
Necessary Personal Qualities & Skills:
Extensive experience of dealing with people who have experienced depression and/or bipolar disorder
Knowledge and a deep understanding of the impact of these conditions
Very strong communication and presentation skills
Knowledge of CBT
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Essential Criteria:
Must be willing to engage in extensive national travel when necessary
A clean full driving license and own transport
A minimum of five years’ relevant mental health experience
Demonstrable experience of delivering training programmes/workshops to groups
Professional qualification in a mental health discipline, e.g RPN, Psychology
Must own the necessary equipment conducive to training/presenting, i.e. laptop, projector and speakers
Must have experience in delivering presentations to large groups
Required to be self-employed and will be hired on a sessional basis only
Required to hold professional indemnity insurance & Public liability insurance
Good IT skills
Garda clearance will be required and two references
Full and comprehensive training will be provided by Aware to those candidates selected by Aware.

Training Date
