St. Michael’s House is a community based voluntary organisation founded by parents in 1955 which provides facilities and services to over 1,500 people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Ireland throughout Dublin city and county. We provide services in three regions: Northern Region (Ballymun); Northeast Region (Coolock); Southern Region (Goatstown).
Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Are you interested in working with children and adults with intellectual disabilities? The Speech and Language Department currently has a full-time permanent vacancy based in our Goatstown office in our South Region. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a busy department that provides a range of SLT services to adults and children with intellectual disabilities and their families in community settings.
Essential Criteria:
Candidates must, on the closing date possess: (i) the B. Sc degree (Clinical Speech and Language Studies) from the University of Dublin/ NUIG or UCC OR (ii) the BA (Moderatorship)(Remedial Linguistics) from the University of Dublin OR (iii) the M.SC in Speech & Language Therapy (Professional Qualification) from the University of Limerick OR (iv) Licentiateship from the College of Speech Therapists OR (v) A validated Speech & Language qualification at least equivalent to (i), (ii), (iii) or (iv) above
An undergraduate or post-graduate qualification in dysphagia and at least 6 months experience working in this area
Have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience
Have a minimum of 12months experience working in the area of Intellectual Disability and / or ASD
Have experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support families and staff
Full clean drivers licence and use of a car
Desirable:
Have some experience working with school aged children with very complex needs, including severe-profound intellectual disabilities
Have excellent communication skills
Have Certification in LÁMH, PECS, DLS, TEACCH, floor time

The senior therapist will have a chance to become involved in service & policy development and to develop their supervision and mentoring skills.
