The Role:
The Staff Nurse provides therapeutic interventions, practical support, and nursing care for persons with an intellectual disability of all ages and abilities. The Staff Nurse may work with persons with an intellectual disability in a diversity of roles, from intensive physical nursing of individuals with a profound disability, to facilitative guidance in assisting children, adolescents and adults to live lives of the highest quality in the community. Candidates need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individual’s they support on a daily basis.
The successful candidates must have the following:
Qualifications Required:
Currently registered with NMBI
Nursing Qualification – in Psychiatric, General, Children’s or Intellectual Disability
HSEland Medication Managment Course
Essential Criteria for Applicants:
Experience working and supporting people with Intellectual Disabilities
Experience of working with persons with behaviours that challenge
Working knowledge of HIQA standards
Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal, organisational skills
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Excellent report writing skills
A full clean drivers licence
