Social Farming Researcher – Leitrim Development Company

The work requires someone with an excellent understanding and a post graduate qualification in social services, health sciences, rural development or related disciplines and the issues pertaining to Social Farming from the perspectives of services, participants (service users) and community engagement with farming families.

The key role of the SFR will be to manage the selection, support and monitoring of the proposed model social farms, and to capture, analyse and learn from the experiences of these social farms over the life of the project. The SFR will also be responsible for the dissemination of the project’s learnings and the negotiation/development of effective strategies for progressing social farming into the future.

Skills:
Experience of qualitative research and a broad range of data collection methods
Experience of dissemination of research findings to the policy makers service providers and general public
Analysis of data so as to develop guidelines for best practice in social farming in Ireland which acknowledges the differences between user groups and local institutional arrangements
Disseminate project findings (lessons) through a range of methods and events including through newspapers, project website, videos and conferences
Collaborate and communicate with the staff, structures and networks that will be established and developed by LDC as manager of the DAFM-funded Social Farming Network Development Project.
Possess the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish trusting relationships with all stakeholder groups and encourage engagement with the research and projects / services.
Good organisational skills. And Excellent presentation skills & proficiency in IT.

Requirements:
Hold a post graduate qualification in the social sciences, health sciences rural development or related discipline.
Full clean driving Licence with own transport.

Location: Based in Leitrim Development Company, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim
Hours per week: 32 hours /week
